Since all fishing and hunting is local in scope, specific to the particular habitat, a journal of fishing trips at specific locations is the best source for future plans. In your fishing journal, keep track of 1) the weather - temperature/sun-clouds/precipitation, 2) the barometer, 3) the moon's position, 4) the time of day, 5) type of bait or lure and gear, 6) techniques used, 7) exact location, 8) fish caught - size, time of day. A hunting journal might include similar items, with appropriate changes.
