The Seasonal Affective Disorder Index for May and June

Tagged:

May brings an end to seasonal affective disorders for the majority of people in the Northern Hemisphere. By the fifth month, the summer-like day’s length, the gentle weather, and the falling odds for cloudy conditions brings the Index into the harmless 20s and teens.

Key for Interpreting the S.A.D. Index: Clouds = Cloud Cover; Weather = Weather Conditions; Dayl = Hours of Daylight. Totals of 75 - 65: Severe stress for those who suffer from seasonal affective disorders; 64 - 50: Moderate stress; 49 - 35: Light stress; 34 - 25: Occasional stress for those most susceptible to S.A.D.; 24 and below: Only people with extreme sensitivity to S.A.D. experience seasonal affective disorders below an Index reading of 24.

May l5: 9 6 4 19
May 20: 8 5 3 16
May 25: 7 4 2 13

June brings the lowest S.A.D. index readings of the year. Although other forces may cause depression during the summer, clouds, bad weather, or the day’s length rarely brings on negative feelings.
