Inventory around the yard: Rhubarb shows red stalks now, leaves starting to climb. The box elder is flowering. Astilbe visible. Mock orange leafing. Pussy willows still without pollen. In the South Glen, the only wildflowers visible are the buds of purple cress and toothwort. Debris has been pushed above the path by the March floods, which obviously filled all the bottomlands. Bluebells in the North Glen seen at the same stages as those in our yard. Two robins in a field in a hard chase at full speed. In the alley, the pink magnolia buds are small but swelling; the willow tree has small leaves. This afternoon, Jeanie and I planted pansies and primroses in the front garden.
